Higher Education

North Georgia Technical College offers a wide array of programs from accounting to welding. It also offers dual enrollment and a continuing education program. NGTC’s Clarkesville campus is a 30-minute drive northwest of Franklin County while its Currahee campus is about 35 minutes southeast of Franklin County.

Those who choose traditional post-secondary education will find themselves close to:

  • Emmanuel University, a four-year, private, liberal arts college in Royston, Georgia, that offers 30 liberal arts programs, a dual enrollment program, and online courses.
  • Toccoa Falls College, a regionally accredited private Christian College in Toccoa, Georgia (30 minutes away), offering more than 50 majors and programs on campus and online.
  • University of Georgia, the state’s flagship university just 45 minutes south of Franklin County, offering 161 undergraduate majors and more than 390 graduate programs.
  • University of North Georgia, the state's seventh-largest public university with five campuses including Gainesville and Athens, putting more than 100 programs of study within an hour’s drive of Franklin County.

Emory University in Atlanta, and Clemson University in South Carolina.
